How the ranking works
Targets are ranked from altitude during darkness, time high in the sky, Moon interference, target brightness, apparent size versus the selected telescope field, light pollution and the selected telescope's aperture. Version 3.0 also calculates a practical start/stop imaging window and an altitude timeline through the night. Open any target to see a telescope-specific capture preset with exposure, gain, frame count, target-specific Astro / VIS / Duo-Band / SHO filter selection, integration time, tracking mode and field-of-view based mosaic guidance. Every deep-sky catalogue target includes real astronomical imagery: curated showcase photographs where available and real DSS2 colour sky-survey cutouts for the rest, with approximate single-frame and 2×2 mosaic overlays.
Cloud forecast needs an internet connection. Astronomy calculations, favourites and the target catalogue remain available offline.
